KRAKOW CHURCH HOLDS SERVICE AGAINST ‘KIKES WHO SPIT ON US’

This was not a pogrom, but it was close. Sunday’s incident in Krakow at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was rife with overtones of hatred. “The Jews are attacking us! We need to defend ourselves,” shouted Prof. Bogoslav Wolniewicz, to stormy applause. About 1,000 people gathered for special services Sunday at the church, organized by the Committee Against Defamation of the Church and For Polishness, along with the anti-Semitic Radio Maryja. Local residents were informed of the service by posters that proclaimed: “The kikes will not continue to spit on us.”

Israel will kick out every Asian restaurant worker by the end of the year. “We feel an Israeli can hold a wok as well as a Thai or a Chinese person,” says a Trade Ministry official in charge of work permits. According to an Associated Press story from Jerusalem, the Israeli government will send foreign restaurant workers packing by next January. A grandson of the late Indian leader Mohandas Gandhi has penned some thoughts on Jewish identity that were published this week on the Washington Post’s Web site. “Jewish identity in the past has been locked into the Holocaust experience,” wrote Arun Gandhi, who heads the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence at the University of Rochester in New York. “It is a very good example of [how] a community can overplay a historic experience to the point that it begins to repulse friends.”…“The world did feel sorry for the episode [the Holocaust,] but when an individual or a nation refuses to forgive and move on, the regret turns into anger.”

ARUN GANDHI QUITS PEACE INSTITUTE IN FLAP OVER BLOG POSTING

The grandson of Indian spiritual leader Mahatma Gandhi resigned yesterday as president of the board of a conflict resolution institute after writing an online essay on a Washington Post blog calling Jews and Israel “the biggest players” in a global culture of violence. In his resignation letter to the board of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, founder Arun Gandhi wrote that his Jan. 7 essay “was couched in language that was hurtful and contrary to the principles of nonviolence.
